Full Care Boarding Service
We are proud to offer exceptional full board care for your equine partner. All horses kept at our facilities will have included in their boarding fees the following:
- A high quality balanced diet
Including premium Tribute feeds, a high quality grass or grass mix
hay, and free choice salt offered in the stall. All supplements provided
by an owner for their horse will be administered as requested free of
charge.
- Stalls picked at least twice daily, and re bedded as needed
All horses will have the consideration of a clean "house" each day. Each
will receive enough shavings to provide a comfortable depth of at least
three inches of bedding everyday.
- Clean, fresh water at all times
Proper water consumption is the biggest key to having a healthy horse.
Most horses do not prefer to drink stagnate water, and so to encourage
better drinking habits all horses will be offered fresh water, both in their
stall and during turnout each and everyday.
- Daily turnout in a small herd environment
Horses will be turned out everyday on a consistent schedule and
matched carefully with turnout buddies to avoid any injuries in the
pasture. Only when turnout poses a danger and risk of injury to the
horse will they be left inside...our pastures are well draining and you will
never have to deal with your horse being inside on a nice day because
the pastures are too wet. We have both grass pastures and "dry" lots
to rotate on. Please inquire as to the availability of individual turnout if
that is your preference for your horse.
- Any blanketing necessary to regulate temperature
Improper blanketing can pose health risks to your horse if they become
too hot or too cold. We find that with the constant fluctuation of
temperatures, it can be difficult for a horse owner to have the correct
blankets on a horse from day to day (or sometimes from one night to the
next day). To prevent any worries as to the health of your horse, we will
be regularly checking horses to ensure they are at the correct
temperature overnight, in the cool mornings, and during the day in
turnout as temperatures rise. We will also accommodate requests to
change from turnout to stable blankets when inside at no charge.
Lessons
All lessons offered are a private session, lasting approximately thirty minutes. Beginner lessons can be in Western or English style, and as a rider develops their skills, will be able to move on to a specific discipline in either category. Intermediate and Advanced level lesson clients have the option of focusing on a number of disciplines, including Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Dressage, Reining, and Gymkhana games. Instruction is also offered on Trail class (obstacles), Western Riding (patterns) and Showmanship (in-hand patterns). ALL lessons will focus on improving clear communication between the horse and rider, as well as developing a good work-based bond between both individuals. It is our belief that in the long run, you will not make real progress in the pursuit of riding otherwise.
Lessons horses are available for use, suitable for beginners with good temperaments and mid-size in height for the more timid individual. We also have a miniature horse for young riders weighing 75 pounds or less.
- Per lesson, on own or leased horse $30
- Per lesson, on school horse or trailered-in $35
- One lesson per week for one month, on own or leased horse $100
- One lesson per week for one month, on school horse or trailered-in $125
- Twice per week for one month, on own or leased horse $180
- Twice per week for one month, on school horse or trailered-in $225

Training
Any and all training cases are welcome, whether intended to work towards show or for pleasure, or correcting problems other trainers may turn away. Sarah has a special way with all horses which makes her ability to produce a calm and happy horse unequal to other trainers. We know you've hear similar stories from other trainers, and invite you to experience the difference with our work. We specialize in lunge line and ground driving work, showmanship training, starting horses under saddle, show ready tune-ups, bitting and headset problems, accustoming horses to trail riding, and eliminating problem behaviors (i.e. rearing, bucking, bolting, biting, and pulling back).
All horses that come to Cheerio Acres for training will have their work performed solely by Sarah Locatis, from grooming to cool down. You will never have to worry about having a working student doing the training on your horse, that you paid the 'trainer' to do themselves! We truly value the idea of specialized training and believe you would not have the pleasure of that service if the work wasn't being done by the trainer them self. You can also rest assured that your horse will be worked as often as agreed upon, and remain on a consistent work schedule. Please ask about our Work Logs, a service that is available for the client that wishes to know exactly what progress their horse is making each time they are worked.
Each training session will be approximately one hour, from grooming to un-tacking. Horses on a consistent work schedule will be put on a custom work program that promotes engagement in the learning process. Goals for each horse will be set upon entering into training, and progress towards those goals will be monitored and reported to the owner on a regular basis.
- Per training session, horse boarded on-site $30
- Per training session, horse trailered-in $35
- One lesson and one training session per week for one month $250
- Three training sessions per week for one month $300
- Five training sessions per week for one month $450
Lease and Half-Lease Options
Please ask about the options available for those individuals that wish to lease or half-lease a horse for use both in and out of lessons.
Showing and Show Coaching
Sarah will be attending several local shows (both open, breed, and dressage). She is available to show client horses at events of their choice, as long as that particular weekend is not booked yet. Sarah would also be more than happy to go to events as a show coach, providing support for anything from schooling to psychological support!
If you have a particular event and date in mind, just ask about availability of that date, and pricing for that event. Due to the variability of show locations, and time involved for each individual case, showing and show coaching rates are quoted on an individual basis rather than with a flat fee schedule.
